 If you’re in the market for a second-hand powerboat or outboard only, it’s a good idea to arrange a pre-purchase inspection from a qualified mechanic. But before you do, there are some checks you can do first.
 One of the most common repair jobs we’ve encountered this summer are burnt out water pump impellers. In many of cases I believe this can be easily avoided, as faulty outboard ear muffs are a major contributor.
